Day 29: 3 wishes

1. I wish that I'll have a great marriage, that we'll figure out how to make it all work! I want to be the best wife I can be, so I can only hope and pray that God will help me in this department :)

2. I wish that we'll find a great house to live in.. We're looking but it's not that easy... And I'm not sure if we already know what we want :)

3. I wish that I'll get better in following Jesus and that Jeff and I will figure out what God's plan for our lives is!

Day 28: Something that stresses me out

Maybe I get a little bit stressed out about the fact that I'll know if I passed this last exams on my wedding day!!! Probably the grades will show up on the online community during our photoshoot... Great..
I'm not sure is I'll look on the day itself :) I've got something more important to do ;)

Another thing that stresses me out: I'm forgetting what I had to do before the wedding! It's only 11 days to go and I have SO MUCH to do!!
*faints*

But I can cross 1 thing off my list:
I just got back home WITH my wedding dress!!
Jeeeej :)

Day 27: Original picture of the city I live in

Difficult one... Where do I live??

I was born and raised in Hasselt

I'm getting married in the city hall of Hasselt (over here you get married officialy in the city hall.. Then you can choose whether you'll have a church ceremony or not. That's your own choice and it doesn't make you into a wife or husband. Most people get married in a church or in some sort of ceremony, obviously we're getting married in a church too!)

I've lived in Leuven for the past 4 years...

And finally, I'll be moving to Ghent...

Quite a story isn't it? I love Belgium, it has some amazing cities! A lot of history and a lot to see...
I love every single one of the cities I've lived in so far!!

Day 26: My dream Wedding

I' so sorry girls, but it would be ridiculous if I would describe my dream wedding... Since I'm having it in less than two weeks! Whaaaa! (Yes, still panicking!)

Obviously, this isn't me... But I'd love to be that pretty!

Today is my first exam-free day so I'm still going to relax abit. Tonight we're going to get all of my stuff out of my dorm room. It feels a bit weird after 4 years living in Leuven, all alone...
I'm staying with my parents for the next (almost) two weeks...
And than I'll be living the rest of my life with my wonderful husband :) I'll be calling a very handsome guy my husband! Whaaaaa!!

Let's just hope this panicking-thing 'll stop once the dream wedding-thing is over ;)

July 9th, 2011... That will be the date of my dream wedding...
It's a dream date, isn't it? :)

Day 25: Put on your Ipod on shuffle: first ten songs!

Uhm...
I'm sorry girls, I don't have an Ipod... Never had one really...
Shall I sing for you girls in stead??
Or maybe I shouldn't, else you'll run away very fast :)

Instead, I'll give you the lyrics to the song we finally decided on to be our first dance!
It's not Bubbly Tatiana, I'm sorry :) That one's too difficult to dance on for Jeff hah!

We chose The Magic Hour by Andrew Peterson. It's a very slow song, you can listen it through this link:
http://grooveshark.com/s/The+Magic+Hour/32yYlt?src=5

Come climb the hill with me
Come and be still with me
Come watch the sun sink away
If you will with me

Come watch the garden grow
Down by the gravel road
Come warm your hands in the gold
Of the afterglow

Into the peace of these wild things,
Into the wild of this grace,
Into the grace of this blessing,
Speak in the peace of this place

Come walk the cedar stand
Over the broken dam
Sit on the bench at the bend in the trail again

Look how the children laugh
Out in the tumble grass
Bright as a fire and as fine as a photograph

Here at the magic hour
Time and eternity
Mingle a moment in chorus
Here at the magic hour
Bright is the mystery
Plain is the beauty before us
Could this beauty be for us?

What is this voice that sings
Holy and hovering
Over this hill in the still of the evening?
(Son of God, speak)

Day 24: Something I've learned

* I've learned that through blogging, you can learn a lot!
*I've very recently learned a lot about American writers before 1900 :) I took a class on that and it was SO interesting!
*I've learned a lot about America in general, through reading YOUR blogs!
*About a month ago, I learned that God sees me and therefore he has taken me out of my situation and put me in a brand new one. He gave me a new start! That's some amazing knowledge.
*I've learned that there exist books on the first wedding night... And on every night that will follow that first one! (TMI? hehe!) And about a biblical way of looking at it!
*I've learned that I have a lot more friends than I thought. I only have facebook since a week and I already have 77 friends!! Amazing ;)
*I've also learned that I have some amazing real life friends. I always felt like I was alone. Or alone with God but I figured that was still alone since He doesn't litteraly sit next to you (don't argue about it please hahaha! Jeff always does!). Since I'm going to Ghent regularly, I've found some amazing friends. And they think I' amazing too! How odd..

I've learned a lot more these past weeks since I'm having exams but I think that's not too interesting for people that don't have to know these things hah!

Any interesting things you've learned lately??

Day 23: Favourite movie

One of my favourite movies is "In her shoes" with Cameron Diaz.

I don't know why but I still love it, doesn't matter how many times I've seen it before!
It's about two sisters that have a fight, and about how they get back to being friends.

In the end of the movie, the youngest sister that used to have a reading problem reads a poem at the wedding of her sister. My little sister will read the same poem at my wedding :)

I carry your heart with me - E.E. Cummings
I carry your heart with me
I carry it in my heart
I am never without it
anywhere I go you go,my dear;
and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling

I fear
no fate, for you are my fate, my sweet
I want
no world, for beautiful you are my world, my true

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
here is the root of the root
and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky
of a tree called life;
which grows higher than soul can hope or mind can hide
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart
I carry your heart
I carry it in my heart

22 Jun 2011

Day 22: What's in my purse?

I don't carry a lot with me (I think... Compared with girls that carry make up and hair stuff and...)
I also have a very boring bag. It's brown and not fancy at all, but for the moment it works! I have to carry study material with me every day so I need a big bag!

I have in my purse:
*an umbrella
*writing stuff
*a note pad
*stuff to study
*a bottle of water (I always carry this with me!)
*my agenda
*my keys
*my wallet
*handkerchief
*desinfecting hand-gel
*band aids
*painkillers
*my phone
*mascara
*a hair tie
*a random cookie I got with my coffee yesterday morning :)

Yezz.. SO interesting, I know!
No knives or toilet paper or other weird stuff...
:)

Day 21: Favourite picture of myself

I think this would be one of my favourite pictures of myself.

It was septembre, summer. I had just put curls in my hair (permanent), lost - a lot of - weight and was ready to start my second year of college, first year of my current study.

I felt pretty happy!

My relationship with my ex-boyfriend just broke off but I already had a new one (yep... I switched... And I'm still sorry for having it done that way!). But I felt truly loved, even if it wasn't real love.

When I look at this picture, I think I should loose some weight and feel like I did back then! I ate SO healthy! At the moment I'm eating way to many sugars and way too many cookies!! Ugh...
I wish I would have the same weight at my wedding day but I won't. Why not?

Because I'm actually rather happy now too ( - 'cause I can have the occasional cookie and ice cream jeeeej!)! I have a fiancé that doesn't threaten to leave me when I'm having a panick attack due to my exams. Nether does he say I don't look beautiful or that I should watch what I eat.
I'm going to start a completely new life in only 18 days! I fit in my wedding dress and it's such a gorgeous gown...

But this picture does remind me of some good times :) I like it...
AND: It makes me happy that my sweet doggie and I are looking so sweet at each other hah!

20 Jun 2011

Day 20: Nicknames

I don't know how much is going to be "understandable English" because most of our nicknames are in Dutch (duu-uuh). Good to know: in Dutch we mostly put the word accent on the first syllable of words?

I think we mostly use "Lieverd" which means "sweetie". But you have to know that I always make up words and that I pronounce the already existing words in a weird way :) So we pronounce the Dutch word with a faked American accent! (Yes, Jeff does that as well by now haha!). This sometimes varies into "Lieverdie" or"Hieve'd".

My second most used nickname for him is Pitou. "Pi" like in pee an "tou" like in... Euhm... I don't think you have that sound in English! The best I can think of is the u in "congratulations" :)
This word is just a not-existing word, I made it up...

Variations on that: pitounie, kipouna, pitie, ... : all again without a real meaning. I guess it just means "I love you" in my own weird language haha :)

Yes, you can laugh, it's fine by me!

19 Jun 2011

Day 19: Something I miss

 My doggie :(
I'm in my dorm right now (for only one more week!!) so she's not with me. I'll see her again in a week!

My sweetheart!! I can't see him due to my exams... But can you believe that we're getting married in less than three weeks?!

18 Jun 2011

Day 18: Favourite place to eat

I don't have a favourite place to eat really...
I just love eating out in general :)
But if I have to name one kind of food, it would be greek!

Only downfall of it? The lamb... I don't like to eat lamb and the greek kitchen had a lot of menu's with lamb...
Nope, that's not for me!!

17 Jun 2011

Day 17: Something I'm looking forward to

Euhm... Seriously?
I'll let you guess once :)

THE WEDDING!!!
It's in only THREE WEEKS!!! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa....aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!

I've finished 1 exam already, tomorrow is my second one... I'm looking forward to them all being done.

I'm looking forward to my wonderful honeymoon to Tunesia!! :)

I'm looking forward to a life as "wife" of my sweetheart :) A life together!! Mmm :)

16 Jun 2011

Day 16: My deam house

My dream house?
I have to say I don't really have a dream house :) Doubts!!!

On the one hand I would love to live in the middle of nature, in a quiet little road, lot's of flowers, animals and stuff....

I think you Americans would call that "southern"? (I'm still learning ;))

On the other hand... I think God has some great plans in the city where Jeff and I will be living after our wedding. We see people turning to God, youth praying for a change, missionaries coming to support...
So I would love to have a big house in the middle of the city where we could give a room, love and a meal to people in need! Just being there for others... I think that's rather hard when you live in the middle of nowhere, isn't it? :)

Until we have some more clarity of what God wants for us, we'll live in an apartment. It's a house, divided in 2 (or three if you count the cellar and garage!). On the one side our best friends live. In the garage and cellar there's started a new church only a month ago!
I love that I'll be living there but I also want a house for ourselves... Paying rent isn't alway economical...
So we just keep praying and keep our eyes opened!!

Love,
Evelien

Day 14: A picture of me last year - how have I changed?

First things first: HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BABY!
Two years ago my darling and I became a couple and I've been so happy these past two years!

I love you :)

On to the challenge: a picture of me last year:

This picture was taken june 17 last year, it's the closest I could get to "a year ago" :)
We were having a drink with Jeff's parents after Jeff had the presentation of his thesis. He did so well!! He got a prize because his thesis was the best one :) *proud*
That's Jeff's mom by the way haha!

So much has happened in only one year, it's amazing!

*Jeff moved and now lives on his own (for the next 25 days!)
*He got a new job working for the government as IT-man
*We got engaged
*I got to try on wedding gowns!
*I learned a lot about myself and about Jeff. We have both grown a lot!
*We go to a prayer meeting every friday evening and there has happened SO MUCH growing this last year! It's incredible... If I look at how I related to that group a year ago and how I relate to them now? It's just such a big change!

On the outside I don't think I've changed a lot, but I have on the inside!
Thank you Jesus, thank you Jeff, thank you friends!! :)

13 Jun 2011

Day 13: Goals

My goals for this summer are obviously: GETTING MARRIED!!! And I'll try to translate a book my father in law wrote! He wrote it in Dutch but hardly anybody speaks Dutch so I'll translate it into English. Well, at least I'll try to ;)

Other goals:
* Finishing college in 2 years
* Having babies, becoming a mommy!
* Being a good wife to my husband
* Becoming more like Jesus
* Being someone people can rely on

I could add more goals but they're all goals I can't "cross off" off my to-do list so it only makes me sad if I write them down and never will accomplish them!
I make a to-do list every day because it makes me happy, hah!

So what are some of your goals??

12 Jun 2011

Say 12: Something I don't leave the house without

I guess that would have to be my keys, my sell-phone (Samsung Stylish Touch) and my wallet.

And mascara! If I don't wear mascara when you see me, I'm probably having a horrible day, hah!
I'm currently using this one (because it was on sale, yay! - Make up in Belgium is SO expensive!) but I'll have to find myself a new, waterproof one for the wedding! I already know I'm going to cry... A lot... hehe...

11 Jun 2011

Day 11: Favourite TV-shows

I live in a dorm and we don't own a TV here. Jeff doesn't own a TV either, so I don't often watch TV. At my parents' house I like to watch detective series such as Midsummer Murders. I've seen them all before but I still like them!

I also love to watch Storm of Love. It's such a dramatic show but I like it :)

Which shows do you like?
I guess mine aren't on in the US...

10 Jun 2011

Day 10: Something I'm afraid of

'nough said... :s

I can't stand these creatures. I know God has made them, but I don't understand everything He does, such as: why did He have to create spiders?!
And everybody keeps saying the animal is more afraid then I am, but I find that very hard to believe :)
