Date night & Breakfast in bed

The marriage course has taught us to have "marriage time" every week. About 2 hours that you keep free for each other, we write in our agenda's so nothing can come in between it. For the moment we use this time to make our homework: just talking through the questions we have to tackle together. But sometimes the questions aren't as relevant to us.

For example: we don't have major issues about things our parents did or said (we're so blessed with our amazing parents!) or things we did to each other (I guess we're also very blessed with eachother! hah!). Part of this is probably because we've only been married for 4 months ;)

But anyways, we didn't have much to talk about! So we just made it a date night!!

The wine is sparkling wine called "Il Vino dell Amore" (love wine!)
It was very sweet, kinda like a dessert wine.. Jeff got all of this ready and he even gave me some amazing flowers!!

Please excuse the mess in the background! I've been so busy for school... Clutter everywhere! Haha :)

So because Jeff had put together our little date, I gave him breakfast in bed! Some soaked oatmeal with yoghurt and some raspberries... Mmmm...

I love this kind of breakfast! So healthy and YUMMY!!

Any ideas to surprise the husband with? What have you girls done before or thing about doing?

Melancholia?

We went to see Melancholia yesterday...

Did anyone see it?
Did anyone LIKE it?

I didn't... too "artistic". Creepy. Weird...

Luckily we got the tickets for free as a wedding gift! 10 movie ticket, such a great gift :)
Cheap date nights, woohoow!

First day of Fall

Yesterday was the first day of fall!!
It's a day I've come to love over the years, because it's also my Daddy's birthday :)
Happy birthday Daddy!

To celebrate this first fall day, Jeff and I took a long walk around the place where we'd love to buy a house, the Flemish Ardennes.
Excuse my mad look, I like doing faces while Jeff is trying to take a nice picture ;)

Look at the amazing view behind us! Love it!

One of the houses I love, is this one:

I love how it is just in the middle of nowhere and that it has such a long private drive-way!
Keep on dreaming, I'd say...

Temperatures have dropped, it's really getting colder... But that's a part of what I like about fall! Putting back on those warmer clothes, lighting scented candles to scare away the darkness, nature changing...
Mmmm... I LOVE fall!!

Relationship Survey

Just stumbled across this funny survey about relationships! Enjoy :)

How long have you been together?
We've been together for 1 year, 9 months, some days and have been engaged for 6 months!!

How long did you know each other before you started dating?
We met in april 2009 and started our relation in june... The answer to the question is: 2 months

Who asked who out?
Ahm... J. just wanted to come over every week and just say hello, eat an ice cream and leave. Or he would come to my dorm at 7.30 am to wake me up. I thought that was really sweet but wasn't in love at first. But his sweetness touched my heart :)

Did you go to the same school?
No, we live(d) 2 hours from each other!

Who is the most sensitive?
I think that would be me... Teah, definately me...

What about pets?
I love dogs and would LOVE one when we get married (in, like, 3,5 months that is) but Jeff is more of a cat-man... I'm allergic to cats so I think I'll win this battle, moehahaha! If I don't, that would mean I would die a very painful death

Where do you eat out most as a couple?
I think Turkish pizza restaurants

Where is the furthest you two have traveled together as a couple?
The Netherlands? Or Paris. But if you look where Belgium is and then look up Paris or the Netherlands, you would see that we didn't travel very far! 2 or 3 hours at most.

Who has the craziest exes?
J has only one, I have a couple of them. But they're not "crazy". Just exes I guess

Who has the worst temper?
Oh my, that's me again :s
Jeff is always happy!

Who does the cooking?
we both love to cook! so it depends

Who is more social?
Jeff LOVES people, he just loves them! I'm too shy I guess

Who is the neat freak?
Haha, when I enter J's appartment I immediately start cleaning random stuff. J just leaves it all there for me!!

Who is the most stubborn?
We can both be stubborn, it depends

Who wakes up earlier?
I would. I get up and start making coffee/breakfast
But sometimes it's J, when he wants to surprise me :)

Where was your first date?
a real date? I don't really remember... I am I a bad woman now? :s
I think we went to eat something together (Turkish pizza?), but J had invited friends! I remember thinking that he was SO weird. But we had a fun time and he promised not to randomly invite friends anymore in the future :)

How long did it take to get serious?
I told him the first week that he would have to wait at least a year before asking me to marry him!
He was sooo head over heals in love and I was afraid he would just pop the question before I even really knew him! But we both knew that it was a special relationship from the beginning

Who eats more?
J is 1m92, I'm 1m66. It would be VERY weird if I ate more than he does.

Who does the laundry?
I do, I LOVELOVELOVE doing the laundry! We don't live together but I still do his laundry most of the time

Who drives when you are together?
He does, but he makes me drive because I haven't got my driver's licence that long and he thinks I should practise more

Who is the first one to admit when they’re wrong?
I don't know... It depends

Who wears the pants in the relationship?
He does, I want him to be the one that leads me. He's one very tough man for being able to handle me :)

Who eats more sweets?
Don't know... Depends on what it is :)
I don't like "candy" but I love chocolate :)

Now you know me and J. a bit better, I hope you liked it ;)

Evelien

In Bruges

During the weekends I'm almost always spending time with J. so I don't have time to blog.
Last saturday J. had a surprise for me, because I asked him to plan something that would take my mind off of the studying. So he planned a day to Bruges!!

I had been there before, but didn't get to see much of the town. It's all very old and rustic. Here are some pictures!

Here's us in a little park where the beguines used to live. It was so nice and quiet there! Amazing, considering the high number of tourists that come to Bruges...

Then we went to have some breakfast. A while ago I bought J. a "bongobon", that's a coupon to go do something. I chose a coupon to have breakfast with champagne :) J. got to choose the restaurant and he did a great job! It was SO jummy!! I'd love to go back there! *hinthint*

Look at that happy face haha!
J. pointed out a big house and said it used to be his grandmother's when she just got married.
Then he pointed at the hotel next to it and said that the hotel is the place where she, his grandmother, was born and raised! I was baffled ofcourse, because most of the houses in Bruges are very small and these two houses are BIG! I guess they're just a special family :) There's even a street named to his greatgreatgranddad!

We walked around for a bit and got to a chocolate museum. Belgium is known for its chocolate :)

This is a replica of one of the first chocolate confectionners in Belgium.

At the end of the tour you could see a chocolate maker who made chocolates for all the visitors :)
And this was a chocolate fountain with the famous "Manneke Pis" (Dutch for "little man urinating"). Manneke Pis is a statue in Brussels, but here you can admire him while he is 'urinating' chocolate!

The next thing we did was go on a boat trip! Bruges is called "The Venice from the North", so all over the city there are these tours in a boat on the river that flows through the city.

It was really fun but we didn't like the guide... He was a bit rude and we could hardly understand what he said!

Belgians love to eat and drink and there are a lot of different kinds of beer here. This was a wall with ALL the different brand of beer from Belgium! Ofcourse J. needed to have a picture with it ;)
I have to admit it was kind of impressive to see!

At the end of the day we went to the sea. I loved that because it has something romantic, doesn't it? Just decide in a glance to drive to the sea and look at the sun going down... I'm hopelessly romantic I'm afraid :)

If you've read all of this, than wow, congratulations :)

The Japanese Garden

Last saturday J. and I went to the Japanese Garden. We wanted a 'date' that wasn't just going to the movies or going shopping and eating dinner.

So for starters we went to a restaurant (yep, we need that food haha!). It's called Zuppa ("Soupah") and you can choose from all kinds of soups :)It may sound strange but we like it and it's very healthy!

There was feta in our soup and pesto... I forgot what the rest was :)

After that we walked to the garden!

It's the biggest authentic Japanese garden in Europe, but I didn't think it was really "big". We walked there for almost 2 hours but we spend a lot of time with the fish.

The weather wasn't great, but you can see how beautiful the garden is! It's just 15 minutes from my home, but I had never been there before... :::shame on me:::
It is too bad that it wasn't the blossomseason because that should be an amazing scene!

There was a large pond in the middle of the garden, with al lot of these fish. They are called "Koi", some sort of carp.

This is when we discovered that you could buy fishfood :)

We really spent a lot of our time with those fish haha!

There was one place that was really exciting: the waterfall! It wasn't really big but it was exciting for us :)
There was a small path of rocks in front of it, so you could walk right next to it.

Us in front of the waterfall :)

If you ever get the chance you should try visiting a Japanese garden, it's really an experience!

Love,
Evelien
