Books - The Atonement Child

When I was younger, I used to read ALL.THE.TIME.
I would read in our couch during the day and when I went to sleep I would just read on in my bed until I couldn't keep my eyes open any longer.

It's a hobby that had to at least slow down because I became a college student, but the day before yesterday I borrowed a book from one of my best friends. It's called "The Atonement Child".

I started reading and I just couldn't stop, so it was a long night yesterday :)

The story is about a young, christian girl who has a great life, great parents, a handsome fiancé etc. But one evening on her way home, she get's raped. That is very hard for all the characters, but it gets even worse: she soon realizes she's pregnant.

It's a great story and I loved it! Everything was so catching except for one long conversation... In my opinion it was a bit too descriptive of the situation in America and why everything is wrong.... It was just a bit too long and too pedentic. I just couldn't imagine the conversation happening in real life.
But all in all I would really recommend the book! I've cried at sad parts, I've laughed, felt excited when something romantic happened. I just loved it :)

Love,
Evelien

LOVE Francine Rivers!!!! She's seriously one of my all-time favorite authors! She's fantastic. I'm glad you enjoyed her book! I highly recommend the Mark of the Lion series that she wrote- it changed my relationship with Christ, no exaggeration. It's wonderful.

If you DO try the vinegar, make sure you used distilled white vinegar! It's different from regular vinegar that you use to cook with or on salads. You can use it to can relish and pickles, but that's about it food-wise. I wasn't sure if I was clear on that in my post! :o)

I love Francine Rivers too although I didn't actually think this was one of her best books. I enjoyed it but thought it was a bit too predictable and I felt like she tried too hard to put her anti-abortion views across - like you say some of the conversations were quite unnatural.
This all sounds really negative - I think she's a great author! Have you read any of her other books?
